Recycled glass aggregate made in BC

Enviro-Rock is made in Canada from recycled glass collected throughout British Columbia, so glass that could have gone to landfill becomes lightweight fill.[1]

01

100% recycled glass

Enviro-Rock is made entirely from recycled glass, turning a waste material into a building and civil product.[2]

02

Less quarried aggregate

Recycled glass takes on a new long-term use and reduces demand for newly quarried aggregate in suitable applications.[3]

03

Made in BC

Local production gives projects in Western Canada a more direct supply chain than importing lightweight aggregates from overseas or distant plants.[3]

04

Fewer trucks per job

A load of lightweight fill is usually limited by the truck's volume, not its weight.[4] Enviro-Rock moves up to 140 m³ in one B-train load.[5]

05

Not hazardous in the ground

Based on leachate studies, the Federal Highway Administration does not consider foam glass aggregate hazardous for highway geotechnical and pavement use.[6]

06

Recoverable

Foam glass aggregate can be excavated and reused.[7]

For your project

Carbon and documentation

Published environmental product declarations for European foam glass aggregate report about 7 to 50 kg CO2e per cubic metre from cradle to gate, with the spread driven mostly by manufacturing process and energy source.[8][9][6]

In research for the Illinois Tollway, foam glass aggregate had a lower cradle-to-gate environmental impact than lightweight cellular concrete on every indicator compared. The foam glass figures came from European declarations, some for cellular glass boards, and the cellular concrete figures from published studies.[7]

Enviro-Rock has not yet published its own environmental product declaration. If your project is documenting recycled content or carbon, tell us what you need when you request a quote.
