Enviro-Rock for contractors

Enviro-Rock arrives in trailer loads from about 45 m³ up to 140 m³, or in 1.7 m³ (2.2 yd³) super sacks.[1] It goes down in 300 to 600 mm loose lifts under a static roller with no vibration, or 150 to 300 mm loose lifts under a plate compactor with more passes rather than more vibration, and is compacted 10 to 20%.[2][3]

Your priorities

What you need from a supplier

01

The right order quantity

Some agencies pay per in-place volume while the material ships loose, so the estimate converts one to the other.[4]

02

Trucks that fit the site

Load sizes, trailer types and delivery timing that match site access, staging space and the placement crew.

03

Rules the crew can follow

Lift thickness, equipment and compaction limits that are simple to check on site.

What you get

What Enviro-Rock provides

01

Trailer options

B-train end dump up to 140 m³ (about 183 yd³), shuffle floor up to 106 m³ (138 yd³), end-dump trailer up to 45 m³ (59 yd³), truck and pup up to 45.7 m³ (59.7 yd³), and 1.7 m³ super sacks at up to 102 m³ a load.[1]

02

The delivery estimator

Enter a destination and a compacted volume, and the delivery estimator returns the loose volume to order, the truckloads and an indicative delivery window by road distance.

03

Compaction equipment rules

Static double drum rollers with no vibration in 300 to 600 mm loose lifts, plate compactors in 150 to 300 mm loose lifts with more passes rather than more vibration, and no jumping jacks; compact 10 to 20%.[3][2] Wheeled machines stay off placed material.[5]

04

The layer stack

The installation guide shows non-woven geotextile between the fill and the proof-rolled ground below, and a geotextile or filter cloth layer between the fill and the crushed gravel above.[2]

05

Spreading and unloading

Wheeled machines stay off placed fill[5], so spread it with tracked equipment. Tell us about tipping space and overhead lines when you request a quote; a shuffle floor trailer unloads without raising its box.

06

Pickup and crew training

Pickup from the Quesnel facility by appointment[6], and training sessions for your crew.[7]

Questions

Common questions

How is Enviro-Rock placed and compacted?

Place it on non-woven geotextile in 300 to 600 mm loose lifts under a static roller with no vibration, or 150 to 300 mm loose lifts under a plate compactor with more passes rather than more vibration, and compact it 10 to 20%.[2][3] Do not use a jumping jack, and keep wheeled machines off placed material.[5]

Should I order loose or compacted volume?

Order loose volume, allowing for about a 20% reduction from loose thickness unless the design specifies otherwise.[5] Field tests summarized by FHWA measured about 8 to 17% lift volume reduction under a typical compaction specification, so confirm the factor with the engineer before ordering.[8]

How do I check compaction on site?

Measure how much each lift drops. Agency specifications check this by string line or survey, and New York State DOT targets about 80% of the original lift thickness.[9] Enviro-Rock's guide allows for about a 20% reduction in loose thickness.[5]

Will my equipment crush it?

Vibration and high-impact compaction break particles down. Use a static roller with no vibration, or a plate compactor with more passes rather than more vibration; keep wheeled machines off placed material and do not use jumping jacks.[2][5][3]

How fast can you deliver?

Delivery times depend on location and product availability.[6] The delivery estimator gives an indicative window from road distance, and your quote proposes a delivery schedule for your order.

How much does freight add to the price?

It depends on the haul. Illinois Tollway research found that shipping distance significantly affects the cost of foam glass aggregate: in its example, an 800-mile haul added about $34 to an in-place cubic yard costing $169.[10] Because Enviro-Rock is light, a B-train carries up to 140 m³ (about 183 yd³), so each load moves a large volume of fill.[1]
